The Victor China Open 2024, one of the most prestigious events in the badminton calendar, will take place from September 17 to 22 at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium. The tournament has attracted 277 athletes from 23 countries and regions, with 239 of these athletes securing qualification.
This tournament marks the first BWF World Tour Super 1000 event after the Paris Olympics and is the only Super 1000 event scheduled for the latter half of the year. The event boasts a total prize pool of 2 million USD, the highest in its history. In addition to the substantial prize money, the tournament offers valuable ranking points that contribute to the BWF World Rankings. Athletes reaching the semi-finals will earn 8,400 points, the runner-up will gain 10,200 points, and the champion will receive an impressive 12,000 points. Participation is mandatory for the top 15 ranked singles players and top 10 ranked doubles pairs in the world. Over 30 athletes from China's national team, including top players like Zheng Siwei, Huang Yaqiong, Jia Yifan, Liang Weikeng, Wang Chang, Chen Yufei, and Shi Yuqi, have registered for the event, ready to compete on home soil.
To enhance the spectator experience, the Changzhou venue has undergone extensive upgrades this year, including improvements to the lighting system, air conditioning, and functional rooms, resulting in a more stylish visual presentation and a more comfortable viewing experience. Additionally, more than 600 seats have been added to the stands on the fifth floor of the gymnasium to better accommodate the needs of fans and local residents. As part of their commitment to community engagement, the tournament organizers will continue the tradition of offering 5% of the tickets as free passes to disadvantaged workers, low-income households, individuals with disabilities, and model workers at or above municipal level.
Tickets for the event went on sale through the official platform Damai.com at 16:18 on August 19.
