On May 12, the 11th annual "Trudge for a Bag of Milk" and the "2024 Changzhou Online Charity Walk" kicked off at Changzhou Science and Education Town. The event saw the participation of Chen Zhiliang, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and director of the Department of Publicity.
As a prelude to this year’s "National Low Carbon Day" main event in Changzhou on May 15, the "Trudge for a Bag of Milk" highlights the city's commitment to green and sustainable practices, offering participants a scenic journey through Changzhou.
The route stretches from Changzhou Science and Education Town in the south to Jiangnan Global Harbor in the north, passing through Cultural Palace Square in the downtown area. The total distance is 26 kilometers, divided into a 16-kilometer first half and a 10-kilometer second half, with 23 checkpoints along the way. Over 10,000 citizens registered for the event, raising a record 1 million yuan in donations. All contributions will be converted into milk, which will be distributed to those in need by June. The event was supported by approximately 5,000 volunteers, security personnel, and staff who provided invaluable assistance throughout the day.
Since its inception in 2014, "Trudge for a Bag of Milk" has engaged over 195,000 participants, covering a cumulative distance of 2.3 million kilometers. The initiative has raised a total of 9.266 million yuan, providing over 4.2 million bags of milk to 18,509 financially underprivileged students.
