The period known as "Golden September, Silver October" marks a peak season for consumer spending in China. During the week-long National Day holiday, Changzhou launched a series of targeted campaigns to stimulate consumer activity, offering promotions on cars, home appliances, electric bicycles, and agricultural goods. These efforts gave a significant boost to the holiday economy, sparking strong consumer interest.
According to the Municipal Bureau of Commerce, 57 key retail and food service businesses monitored during the holiday saw total sales of 600 million yuan, a 6.2% increase over the same period last year, and a 27.3% rise compared to 2019. The Lingjiatang Wholesale Market reported an average daily transaction volume of about 12,000 tons, including over 5,000 tons of vegetables, 1,200 tons of fruit, nearly 1,000 tons of aquatic products, and close to 4,000 tons of grains, oils, and other staples. This ensured a steady supply of essential goods for the city’s residents throughout the holiday period.
