China's leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, BYD, made waves on April 20 with the announcement that its total vehicle sales for March surpassed 300,000 units, marking an impressive 147.8 percent surge compared to February. Notably, its production base in Changzhou played a pivotal role, with the Yuan series boasting monthly sales of 33,000 units and the Sea Lion model achieving 13,000 units in sales.
With a consistent monthly production capacity of around 25,000 vehicles since March, the BYD Changzhou facility, nestled in Changzhou National Hi-Tech District (CND), underscores its unwavering commitment to expanding output while expediting the development and trial production of new vehicle models.
During the first quarter of this year, the automotive core parts industry in the CND witnessed a noteworthy 28.9 percent year-on-year increase in output value. Efforts are now underway to bolster the crucial role of BYD's EV manufacturing project in the district, with a keen focus on completing the BYD Phase II project by year-end and enhancing the agglomeration of EV and core parts industries.
