Mid-Autumn Festival, or Mid-Autumn Day, is the second grandest festival in China after the Chinese New Year. It traditionally falls on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, which is in September or early October on the Gregorian calendar.

In 2021, the Mid-Autumn Festival falls on September 21st (Tuesday). Chinese people have a three-day public holiday from September 19th to 21st.

The day is also known as the Moon Festival or the Mooncake Festival, as the moon is believed to be at its fullest and brightest at that time of the year.

In Chinese culture, a full moon symbolizes reunion. Chinese people celebrate it by gathering for dinners, appreciating the moon, making colorful lanterns, eating mooncakes, etc.
