A grand reception celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) was held in Changzhou on the evening of September 29. Chen Jinhu, secretary of the Changzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), attended the reception and delivered a speech. Sheng Lei, mayor of the Municipal People's Government, presided over the reception. Also in attendance were Bai Yunping, director of the Municipal People's Congress, and Dai Yuan, chairman of the Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
The event brought together leading officials from various city departments; honorary residents of Jiangsu province residing in Changzhou; honorary citizens of Changzhou; senior executives from foreign-invested enterprises; experts in culture, education, and technology from over 20 countries; international students; personages from Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, Taiwan compatriots and representatives of overseas Chinese, currently in Changzhou.
In his address, Chen Jinhu, speaking on behalf of the city's leadership, extended a warm welcome to all attendees. He expressed sincere gratitude to friends both domestically and internationally for their steadfast support of Changzhou's development. Chen conveyed his festive greetings to all citizens and partners across various sectors. He emphasized that for the past 75 years since the founding of the PRC, the Party has united people of all ethnic groups, leading them in relentless efforts that have resulted in the twin miracles of rapid economic growth and long-term social stability.
Chen also highlighted how Changzhou's leadership has consistently pursued innovation and excellence, in step with the nation's progress. From being a national model for small and medium-sized cities in the early days of reform and opening up to its recent elevation as a city with a GDP exceeding one trillion yuan, Changzhou has played a significant role in China's development, showcasing its unique strengths, contributions, and commitment.
In conclusion, Chen reaffirmed Changzhou's dedication to implementing the guiding principles of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and President Xi Jinping's strategic vision for Jiangsu. Looking to the future, he emphasized that Changzhou will continue to lead in driving reforms aligned with China's modernization goals, working towards becoming a global leader in intelligent manufacturing and a pivotal hub within the Yangtze River Delta region.
