The Jiangsu Advanced Power and Energy Storage Battery Technology Innovation Center, a Liyang-based project spearheaded by the Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center Co., Ltd., has been awarded funding under Jiangsu province’s 2024 Basic Research Fund, according to the Liyang Science and Technology Bureau. The project has been included in the first batch of supported plans, securing financial backing for its construction as part of the province's Technology Innovation Center initiative.
As a major innovation platform, the Jiangsu Technology Innovation Center plays a crucial role in building a modern, self-sufficient industrial system within the province. Since the launch of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), only 17 such projects have received approval across Jiangsu, underscoring the significance of this latest achievement.
The Jiangsu Advanced Power and Energy Storage Battery Technology Innovation Center is strategically aligned with China’s carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, focusing on the demands of local industries in the new energy and materials sectors. The center's research agenda includes the development of solid-state lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, and other cutting-edge battery technologies. The aim is to establish the center as a leading hub for advanced battery research and development, talent cultivation, and the commercialization of technological innovations.
